I started this on Monday morning, and just couldn’t finish it. Finally some time where I felt like this could be completed. Here goes – Thanks Kelly for starting this linkup! This morning I’m headed downstate to cheer Mike on at his first triathlon of the season!
Best Run Ever
I think I’d have to say that this was the Amsterdam Marathon in 2011. This was my third marathon of the year, and I felt like I was in great marathoning shape. Had I prepared properly, I could have made this a PR marathon, but it was a last minute decision as part of my vacation!
It was ideal weather conditions, and I felt great in my running. I took it easy, spectated & photographed what I saw, and only about half way through realized how great I was doing. I persevered through some pain, but then felt great that I didn’t get too tired until mile 24. I felt so great overall during that race, and would love to feel that again during a marathon — a strong pace throughout and the feeling of “Ready to let loose” at mile 21!!
Three Words That Describe My Running
Colorful. Go-get’em! contemplative
My Go-To Running Outfit
I’m craving summer time, and I love wearing my Lululemon Groovy Run Shorts (2 pairs got me through all of last summer’s running!) and a tee or tank top of some sort when its hot out. I’ve loved the Brooks EZ fabric for shirts, and have a tank top & long sleeve shirt.
Fall brought arm sleeves. Shoe of choice has been the brooks pure cadence.
Quirky Habit While Running
Not sure how quirky, but I have a fear of pooping on the run. I drink a lot of coffee before my runs, and fear runs I don’t drink coffee for.
Morning, Mid-day or Evening
Morning. I have the most energy then ALWAYS.
I Won’t Run Outside When It’s …
Nap time. My biggest limiter in running is sometimes just motivation. If I’m too tired, I don’t want to. For whatever reason I wouldn’t run outside this winter, but had no problem working on my treadmill mileage.
Worst Injury, and How I Got Over It
IT Band injury during the 2011 Illinois Marathon. I was scared of getting told that I shouldn’t run the race, so I didn’t get the help I needed before the race. I ended up taking a month off from running after that race, and was hitting it up regularly with the Physical Therapist that spring, summer & fall.
I continue to do IT Band strengthening after many runs or strength workouts, and the added cross-training from triathlon has helped to keep this in check.
I Felt Most Like a Badass Runner When
I ran during the 2011 Snowmageddon! The fun run we were running to was actually cancelled!
Running Goal for 2013
Knocking 11 minutes off my half marathon PR to get a 2:00:xx time! I’ve got the Wisconsin Half, and then the Madison Mini as half’s on my calendar for this year so far. Also, completing my first Half Ironman on July 21.
