Happy April 1!! Although I’m a bit annoyed by the weather… it’s gotten pretty rainy and still chilly here in Chicago. I’m hopeful that April brings warmer temps. Otherwise I’m moving. (j/k? not sure if this is an April Fools!)
So, how’d I do in March?!
For 2016, I set five focus areas to pay attention to growing in each month. Looking back at February, here’s how I did on my 2016 focal areas. I wrote about my February goals at the beginning of the month, so let’s check in on how I did!
March’s Goal: Keep up the 20 mile per week running average! Get back into a more triathlon-looking training schedule, and sign up for one triathlon.
How I did: I only got in 51 miles running for the month. That’s less than I’d like, but included two stepback/rest weeks. I did get back into a more triathlon training schedule, but am missing running so much! I also did not sign up for a triathlon yet. Still working on the list.
March’s Goal: Continue to track food in MyFitnessPal, and stick to just one “cheat day” per week.
How I did: I tracked consistently 4-5 days per week. I struggle with getting food tracked on the weekends if I’m eating out a lot/ not in a routine. I tried to keep to the one “cheat day” most weeks, but I also fell off the wagon on that toward the end of the month. I am considering some sort of “kick start” to get back on the regular healthy eating bandwagon.
March’s Goal: Get two manicures!
How I did: I got one pedicure this month. Not enough to feel like I’m fulfilling my “pampering” goal, and maybe why it’s feeling hard to stay on track with healthier eating. [Same as Feb]
March’s Goal: Find one event or activity that I’ve never done before, and schedule it!
How I did: I had a blast in Washington DC this past weekend. While that trip included some familiar places, I also visited the new-to-me Renwick Gallery and saw their cool exhibits. Also visited some new-to-me cafes in Chicago.
March’s Goal: Keep reading! Personal books, and share one post on a coaching-related topic here on the blog.
How I did: I finished the following three books. I did not do any “intellectual posting” as I’d intended, but I’ll schedule that onto my (newly re-organized) blog content calendar system.
- Move: Get back to 75 miles+ for April. Run strong & PR at the Shamrock Shuffle. Complete one strength workout each week. (Hope: Get back into Masters Swimming!)
- Nourish: Track food in MyFitnessPal all weekdays. Consider doing a 10-Day Challenge of some sort to reinforce healthy weekend habits.
- Treat: Schedule and get a massage! And get a lunchtime manicure.
- Explore: Try out bouldering / rock climbing.
- Learn: Continue reading, and write one blog post on coaching related topic.
What are you prioritizing for April?
