I ran the Marine Corps Marathon a week ago (recap coming… its taken me a little while to get this down). Here’s how my post-race week shook out:
Monday – I flew back to Chicago and spent the afternoon chilling out. I went to Wellfit and spent some time recapping my race with others, getting some compression boots time in, and then did some easy yoga at their regular Monday class. While I was very hesitant on doing yoga one day post-marathon, I was happy to find that it wasn’t as bad as I was expecting!
Tuesday – back to work! Work has been busy lately, so a lot of catching up from 2 days off. I went to a swim class I’ve started to help coach, and got in some easy swimming.
Wednesday – Rest and headed to the Chicago Tri Club meeting in the evening. I got to hear Monique Ryan, a renowned dietician nutritionist speak to us about off-season nutrition tips!
Thursday – another impromptu rest day following the Cubs winning of the World Series! I wasn’t about to wake up early, and I was visiting a new brewery to see if it would be a good spot for CTC’s holiday party (it is!), and had an impromptu trip to the burbs to drop off some Cubs gear for the in-laws.
Saturday – sleeping in! I got in an hour bike ride, and then headed to vote.
